Tryouts
Tryouts Building a Team
As we begin to look into baseball season I find it interesting how differently some coaches and players can think about baseball. I find it extremely difficult though to accept some of the ways in which people categorize or think about the beginning of baseball season. People can often view baseball as the laziest of all of the major sports in America. I would agree with that, partly. I find that although baseball does lack the physical exertion of the other sports the mental preparation for the game is equal to many of the other sports. When I was in highschool my own high school baseball coach use to have the most grueling tryouts out of all of the major sports. At the time lots of players use to question the validity of having such hard practices. As time past though many of the players realized that one of the major reasons for the tough tryout schedule was due to the fact that the coaching staff was looking for who would fight through the pain and who would quit.
This would deter students who had originally thought that they would play or tryout for baseball for the simple fact that they are felt it would be easy. Baseball is about dedication, having a plan and thinking through it and if difficult tryouts were on the docket for a dedicated team then I am all in on it.
Baseball Man-Term used for someone who truly understand the game of baseball.
